Someone to Watch Over Me
From OH KAY!
Arr. Keith McCauley
Allison Linton, directed by Keith McCauley
Broadway Golden Era duo George and Ira Gershwin originally wrote this for the musical Oh, Kay! (1926), a farcical story set during the Roaring Twenties. It was originally set as a fast and jazzy up-tempo song, but gained popularity in the 1930s and 1940s as a slower ballad. Clearly an enduring favorite, Someone To Watch Over Me has been recorded by Frank Sinatra (1946), Ella Fitzgerald (1951), Blossom Dearie (1952), Sarah Vaughan (1957), Dakota Staton (1960), Barbara Streisand (1965), Ray Charles (1969), Willie Nelson (1978), Rickie Lee Jones (2000), Elton John (2002), and Amy Winehouse (2008).
There’s a saying old, says that love is blind.
Still we’re often told, seek and ye shall find.
So I’m going to seek a certain lad I’ve had in mind.
Looking everywhere, haven’t found him yet.
He’s the big affair I cannot forget.
Only man I ever think of with regret.
I’d like to add his initial to my monogram.
Tell me, where is the shepherd for this lost lamb?
There’s a somebody I’m longin’ to see.
I hope that he turns out to be
Someone who’ll watch over me.
I’m a little lamb who’s lost in the wood.
I know I could, always be good
To one who’ll watch over me.
Although he may not be the man
Some girls think of as handsome,
To my heart he carries the key.
Won’t you tell him please to put on some speed?
Follow my lead, oh, how I need
Someone to watch over me.
Won’t you tell him please to put on some speed?
Follow my lead, oh, how I need
Someone to watch over me.

10,000 Hours
OPB DAN + SHAY and JUSTIN BIEBER
Arr. Jack Zaino
Featuring Mycah Beal and Cami Atwood
Performed by Contessa, directed by Krista Carroll
Do you love the rain, does it make you dance
When you’re out with your friends at a party?
What’s your favorite song, does it make you smile?
Do you think of me?
When you close your eyes
Tell me, what are you dreamin’?
Everything, I wanna know it all.
I’d spend 10,000 hours and 10,000 more,
Oh, if that’s what it takes to learn that sweet heart of yours.
And I might never get there, but I’m gonna try
If it’s 10, 000 hours or the rest of my life.
I’m gonna love you.
Do you miss the road that you grew up on?
Did you get your middle name from your grandma?
When you think about your forever now
Do you think of me?
When you close your eyes
Tell me, what are you dreamin’?
Everything, I wanna know it all.
I’d spend 10,000 hours and 10,000 more
Oh, if that’s what it takes to learn that sweet heart of yours
And I might never get there, but I’m gonna try
If it’s 10, 000 hours or the rest of my life.
I’m gonna love you.

You Are the Reason
OPB CALUM SCOTT
Arr. Mac Huff
Featuring Lainey Gresham and Olivia Nielsen
Performed by Contessa, directed by Krista Carroll
There goes my heart beating.
‘Cause you are the reason
I’m losing my sleep
Please come back now.
There goes my mind racing.
And you are the reason
That I’m still breathing.
I’m hopeless now.
I’d climb every mountain
And swim every ocean
Just to be with you,
And fix what I’ve broken.
Oh, ’cause I need you to see
That you are the reason.
There goes my hand shaking.
And you are the reason
My heart keeps bleeding.
I need you now.
And if I could turn back the clock
I’d make sure the light defeated the dark.
I’d spend every hour, of every day
Keeping you safe.
And I’d climb every mountain
And swim every ocean
Just to be with you,
And fix what I’ve broken.
Oh, ’cause I need you to see
That you are the reason.
I don’t wanna fight no more,
I don’t wanna hide no more,
I don’t wanna cry no more.
Come back I need you to hold
Me a little closer now,
Just a little closer now,
Come a little closer,
I need you to hold me tonight.

Fight On, Fighter
OPB FOR KING & COUNTRY
Arr. Bryant Cox and Keith McCauley
Featuring Bryant Cox
Performed by Fortis, directed by Keith McCauley
I’m proud to present the electronic dance music (EDM) talents of Bryant Cox. I created the original EDM backtrack for Fortis to perform with and after hearing it at our first rehearsal Bryant asked me if he could remix it. Why not?! I emailed him my files and a week later we have the epic backtrack you’re going to hear tonight!
I was there on the day that your world changed.
You were scared, unprepared for the heartbreak.
Everything you knew faded out of view,
Stole a piece of you.
If I could, oh, I would be your hero.
Be the one who would take all the arrows,
Save you from the pain, carry all the weight.
But I know that you’re brave.
Fight on, fighter.
Don’t let anyone steal your fire.
Fight on, fighter.
The Spirit is alive inside ya, yeah!
There’s a part that you hold that you lock down.
Let it breathe, give it wings, set it free now.
Time to make your mark, break the prison bars.
Show them who you are.
Stronger than you than you ever thought.
(I know you’re stronger.)
Braver than you were before.
(You know you’re braver.)
Oh, no, you don’t have to be afraid.
(Together we’ll face it.)
So don’t ever stop no matter what.
‘Cause you’re gonna make it.

Can’t Fight This Feeling
OPB REO SPEEDWAGON
Arr. Alan Billingsley
Featuring Joshua Elison, Tyler Guptill, Jack Stone, Blaine Johnson, with guest appearance by Bella Visi; props by Etsy (Stormy from ShopFelty Treasures)
Performed by Fortis, directed by Keith McCauley
I can’t fight this feeling any longer.
And yet I’m still afraid to let it flow.
What started out as friendship has grown stronger.
I only wish I had the strength to let it show.
I tell myself that I can’t hold out forever.
I said there is no reason for my fear.
‘Cause I feel so secure when we’re together.
You give my life direction, you make everything so clear.
And even as I wander, I’m keeping you in sight.
You’re a candle in the window on a cold, dark winter’s night.
And I’m getting closer than I ever thought I might.
And I can’t fight this feeling anymore!
I’ve forgotten what I started fighting for.
It’s time to bring this ship into the shore
And throw away the oars, forever.
‘Cause I can’t fight this feeling anymore!
I’ve forgotten what I started fighting for.
And if I have to crawl upon the floor, come crashing through your door…
Baby, I can’t fight this feeling anymore.
My life has been such a whirlwind since I saw you.
I’ve been running ’round in circles in my mind.
And it always seems that I’m following you, girl.
‘Cause you take me to the places that alone I’d never find.
And even as I wander, I’m keeping you sight.

It’s been a long day without you, my friend
And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
We’ve come a long way from where we began
Oh, I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again
Who knew?
All the planes we flew, good things we been through
That I’d be standing right here talking to you
‘Bout another path, I know we loved to hit the road and laugh
But something told me that it wouldn’t last
Had to switch up, look at things different, see the bigger picture
Those were the days, hard work forever pays
Now I see you in a better place (see you in a better place)
Uh
How can we not talk about family when family’s all that we got?
Everything I went through, you were standing there by my side
And now you gon’ be with me for the last ride
It’s been a long day without you, my friend
And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again (I’ll see you again)
We’ve come a long way (yeah, we came a long way)
From where we began (you know we started)
Oh, I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again (I’ll tell you)
When I see you again
First, you both go out your way and the vibe is feeling strong
And what’s small turned to a friendship, a friendship turned to a bond
And that bond will never be broken, the love will never get lost
(The love will never get lost)
And when brotherhood come first, then the line will never be crossed
Established it on our own when that line had to be drawn
And that line is what we reached, so remember me when I’m gone
(Remember me when I’m gone)
How can we not talk about family when family’s all that we got?
Everything I went through you were standing there by my side
And now you gon’ be with me for the last ride
So let the light guide your way, yeah
Hold every memory as you go
And every road you take
Will always lead you home, home
It’s been a long day without you, my friend
And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
We’ve come a long way from where we began
Oh, I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again
When I see you again (yeah, uh)
See you again (yeah, yeah, yeah)
When I see you again

Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Breeze driftin’ on by
You know how I feel
It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good
I’m feeling good
Fish in the sea
You know how I feel
River running free
You know how I feel
Blossom on a tree
You know how I feel
It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good
Dragonfly out in the sun, you know what I mean, don’t you know
Butterflies all havin’ fun, you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when day is done, that’s what I mean
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For me
For me
Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
Scent of the pine
You know how I feel
Oh, freedom is mine
And I know how I feel
It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life

Take me back in the arms I love
Need me like you did before
Touch me once again
And remember when
There was no one that you wanted more
Don’t go you know you’ll break my heart
She won’t love you like I will
I’m the one who’ll stay
When she walks away
And you know I’ll be standing here still
I’ll be waiting for you
Here inside my heart
I’m the one who wants to love you more
You will see I can give you
Everything you need
Let me be the one to love you more
See me as if you never knew
Hold me so you can’t let go
Just believe in me
I will make you see
All the things that your heart needs to know
I’ll be waiting for you
Here inside my heart
I’m the one who wants to love you more
You will see I can give you
Everything you need
Let me be the one to love you more
Some way all the love that we had can be saved
Whatever it takes we’ll find a way
Believe me (believe me), I will make you see
All the things that your heart needs to know
I’ll be waiting for you
Here inside my heart
I’m the one who wants to love you more
Can’t you see I can give you
Everything you need?
Let me be the one to love you more

I can hold my breath
I can bite my tongue
I can stay awake for days
If that’s what you want
Be your number one
I can fake a smile
I can force a laugh
I can dance and play the part
If that’s what you ask
Give you all I am
I can do it
I can do it
I can do it
But I’m only human
And I bleed when I fall down
I’m only human
And I crash and I break down
Your words in my head, knives in my heart
You build me up and then I fall apart
‘Cause I’m only human
I can turn it on
Be a good machine
I can hold the weight of worlds
If that’s what you need
Be your everything
I can do it
I can do it
I’ll get through it
But I’m only human
And I bleed when I fall down
I’m only human
And I crash and I break down
Your words in my head, knives in my heart
You build me up and then I fall apart
‘Cause I’m only human
I’m only human
I’m only human
Just a little human
I can take so much
‘Til I’ve had enough
‘Cause I’m only human
And I bleed when I fall down
I’m only human
And I crash and I break down
Your words in my head, knives in my heart
You build me up and then I fall apart
‘Cause I’m only human

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Oh simple thing, where have you gone?
I’m getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you’re gonna let me in
I’m getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I’ve been dreaming of?
Oh simple thing, where have you gone?
I’m getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you’re gonna let me in
I’m getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute, why don’t we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don’t we go somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know
Oh simple thing, where have you gone?
I’m getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you’re gonna let me in
I’m getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute, why don’t we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?

Birds fly, we turned finally free
Patience lost, I began to lose me
My advice would be take a breath
Close your eyes and take a step
I wasn’t scared, I fought this on my own
You pulled me down and I let it go
I told you I would prove you wrong
And now I’m here and I’m standing strong
I, I, I, I know, I know (I know, I know)
I Know (I, I know, I Know)
I Know (I know, I Know)
That I ain’t got far to go, go, go
‘Cause I spent forever waiting
And it’s no longer a dream
And now I’ve landed on my feet
That I ain’t got far to go
H-h-h-hold tight, rollercoaster, here we go
Florida, Orlando, I ain’t playing with you
Day one, I said I’d go for me
One box ticket got a lot to be
I wasn’t scared, I fought this on my own
You pulled me down and I let you go
I told you I would prove you wrong
And now I’m here and I’m standing strong
I, I, I, I know (I Know, I Know)
I know (I, I know, I Know)
I know (I know, I Know)
That I ain’t got far to go
‘Cause I spent forever waiting
And it’s no longer a dream
And now I’ve landed on my feet
That I ain’t got far to go
I’m here to stay, I’m here to stay
Amen (amen), amen (amen)
And if I had to go back in time
I would just do it again (again), again (again)
Hey, hey, ba, ba, ba, ba ain’t got far to go now
Hey, hey I, I, I, I know I, I, I ain’t got far to go
I Know, (I Know, I Know)
I know (I, I know, I know)
I know (I know, I know)
That I ain’t got far to go
‘Cause I spent forever waiting
And it’s no longer a dream
And now I’ve landed on my feet
And I ain’t got far to go
‘Cause I spent forever waiting
And it’s no longer a dream
And now I’ve landed on my feet
That I ain’t got far to go
Nanaa, nanao, nanaa, nanao, nanaa, nanao, nanaa

The Wizard and I
From WICKED
Arr. Keith McCauley
Allison Linton, directed by Keith McCauley
In The Wizard and I, University Headmistress Madame Morrible has just told Elphaba of her talents, and tells her that she will arrange a meeting with the famed Wizard of Oz. With the aid of the Wizard, Elphaba believes she can redeem herself in the eyes of her father, reconcile with her sister, and be cured of her strange green appearance. Elphaba dreams of becoming this new person, inside and out, as she performs great deeds with Oz’s “favorite team,” the Wizard and I.
Did that really just happen?
Have I actually understood?
This weird quirk I’ve tried
To suppress or hide
Is a talent that could
Help me meet the Wizard
If I make good
So I’ll make good
When I meet the Wizard,
Once I prove my worth,
And then I’ll meet the Wizard
What I’ve waited for since, since birth!
And with all his Wizard wisdom,
By my looks, he won’t be blinded
Do you think the Wizard is dumb?
Or, like Munchkins, so small-minded?
No!
He’ll say to me,
“I see who you truly are –
A girl on whom I can rely!”
And that’s how we’ll begin
The Wizard and I:
Once I’m with the Wizard
My whole life will change
‘Cuz once you’re with the Wizard
No one thinks you’re strange!
No father is not proud of you,
No sister acts ashamed
And all of Oz has to love you
When by the Wizard, you’re acclaimed
And this gift or this curse
I have inside
Maybe at last, I’ll know why
When we are hand in hand –
The Wizard and I!
And one day, he’ll say to me, “Elphaba,
A girl who is so superior,
Shouldn’t a girl who’s so good inside
Have a matching exterior?
And since folks here to an absurd degree
Seem fixated on your verdigris
Would it be all right by you
If I de-greenified you?”
And though of course,
That’s not important to me
“All right, why not?” I’ll reply
Oh, what a pair we’ll be
The Wizard and I;
Yes, what a pair we’ll be
The Wizard and…
Unlimited
My future is unlimited
And I’ve just had a vision
Almost like a prophecy
I know – it sounds truly crazy
And true, the vision’s hazy
But I swear, someday there’ll be
A celebration throughout Oz
That’s all to do with me!
And I’ll stand there with the Wizard,
Feeling things I’ve never felt
And though I’d never show it,
I’d be so happy, I could melt!
And so it will be
For the rest of my life,
And I’ll want nothing else
Till I die
Held in such high esteem
When people see me, they will scream
For half of Oz’s favorite team;
The Wizard
And I!

He Lives In You
From THE LION KING
Arr. Dave Metzger
Featuring Allison Linton, Rafiki; Brooklynn Thomas, Ella Hessing, Lillie Perry
Performed by Cantus Youth Choirs, directed by Erika McCauley, Krista Carroll, Cara Stewart
King Mufasa was murdered by his jealous brother Scar. Mufasa’s son, Simba, was manipulated by Scar into believing it was his fault, and ran away in shock and shame. Years later, Rafiki, the court shaman baboon, finds prince Simba and reminds him that he is destined for greatness. In this song she teaches Simba that he is not alone, that his father is watching over him, that he is the next in a long line of kings, and that the greatness of his father is alive inside of him.
