The Winter Concert
Semester 1 starts September 12, 2023 and continues into mid December, culminating with our Winter Concert, a multimedia production featuring singing, dancing, projections, live instrumentation, special effects, and, of course, seasonal music favorites! We’ll be returning to our pre-pandemic model of four traditional ensembles: Chorale (3-4th grade), Concert Choir (5-6th grade), Virtuoso (7-9th grade), and Concordia (10-12th grade). We’ll also present musical selections from our four pop ensembles: Contessa (all female), Fortis (all male), Bella Visi (all male), and VoiceOver (mixed contemporary a cappella).
JOY TO THE WORLD with Jenny Oaks Baker!
Also, during first semester, Cantus Youth Choirs has been invited to sing in Jenny Oaks Baker’s JOY TO THE WORLD tour! Jenny Oaks Baker is “America’s violinist” and is a Grammy nominated performer and recording artist! She’ll be performing at the Morrison Center on Saturday, November 25, 2023 (the Saturday after Thanksgiving). This is an optional opportunity for Cantus participants! Season Finale, DREAMS COME TRUE
Our second semester begins January 9, 2024 and culminates in our Season 14 Finale, DREAMS COME TRUE, an entire concert featuring magical music from 100 years of Disney! We’ll be featuring two guest artists who formerly worked as performing cast members at Disneyland! They’be be reprising their roles of Pocahontas, Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder (Tangled), and Sebastian (The Little Mermaid).
We’ll be performing songs from The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Jungle Book, Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, Coco, Toy Store, Hercules, Soul, Frozen, Frozen II, Pete’s Dragon, Brother Bear, Up, Tarzan, Enchanted, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, High School Musical, Snow White, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Moana, Mulan, 101 Dalmations, Incredibles 2, Cars, Tangled, Encanto, Pirate of the Carribean, and Pocahontas.
This will be the MOST highly-produced event in Cantus history.
