Melissa Hebdon

Vocal Coach

Melissa was born in Boise and grew up in Eagle Idaho. Her deep love for music started as a small child. She began learning piano when she was only 4 years old. In middle school, she learned to play the flute. Melissa’s passion for music blossomed though high school with so many opportunities to grow and perform. She participated in all the audition choirs at Eagle High School, as well as All-State Choir. She continued to play her flute, and was selected to be a drum major for the marching band. She also participated in her high school musicals, where she had a minor role in Annie Get Your Gun and a starring role as the orphan Annie in the musical Annie.

A skilled pianist, flutist, and vocalist, Melissa’s musical journey continued after she graduated high school in 1998. She began writing and arranging music, and has been teaching piano lessons for more than 25 years. She enjoys sharing her talents in church and her local community performing weekly as a volunteer at a local Memory Care Center. As an active composer and arranger, she finds great joy in writing musical arrangements for the instrument players in her church, where she organized an orchestra from her congregation. She also serves as the choir pianist, the children’s music director, and participates in various musical performances singing in solos and ensembles.

Melissa has been a volunteer for Cantus Youth Choirs since 2017 with managing attendance and providing support in helping to direct small musical ensembles. She is a mother of 4 children who have all participated in Cantus over the years. Her lifelong commitment to music, family, and community makes her an invaluable part of the Cantus family.
