Shanna Gardiner
Wardrobe Supervisor
Shanna Gardiner has loved music from a young age and began playing the piano at just 8-years-old. She participated in choirs throughout junior high and high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado and continued to pursue her passion at Brigham Young University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. While at BYU, Shanna sang in BYU’s Women’s Chorus, University Chorale, and Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Mack Wilberg.
After serving an 18-month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Denmark, she returned to BYU to complete her degree and spent two years performing with Latter-day Sounds, a group that shared spiritual musical presentations throughout Utah and Idaho. Following graduation, she taught elementary music for two years in the West Ada School District in Meridian, Idaho, before taking a permanent leave to start a family with her husband, Nathan Gardiner. They have been married since 1996 and are the proud parents of seven children, all of whom have participated in Cantus Youth Choirs over the past 11 years.
Shanna has remained deeply involved in music—teaching private piano and voice lessons, conducting church choirs, and most recently, dabbling in arranging music for church groups. As a mother of a special needs child, she began volunteering with Cantus to accompany rehearsals, which eventually led to her role as wardrobe supervisor. She finds great joy in watching and helping her children and other youth grow in confidence and beautiful singing.
In her free time, Shanna enjoys skiing, sewing, working out, conducting, playing the piano, hanging out with her kids and husband, and making music a meaningful part of everyday life.
