Cantus Youth Choirs Financial Aid Application

Home » Cantus Youth Choirs Financial Aid Application

Step 1 of 5

  • Three forms of financial aid

There are three types of financial aid offered by Cantus Youth Choirs. Financial Aid is granted on a case-by-case basis as determined by Cantus directors and the Board.

Work-Study Tuition Waiver. This form of financial aid may be offered to parents and singers who trade partial or full tuition in exchange for work. Directors and families will work together to define the terms of the work study plan. Approximately 10 minutes to complete.

Need-Based Tuition Waiver. To qualify for this form of financial aid, households will need to disclose household income and expenses. All applications are blindly assessed by the Cantus board of directors and are awarded (1) as funds are available and (2) based on need. Approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Tuition Deferment Payment Plan. This financial aid is negotiated with families who may need a longer term than 6 months to pay their tuition. Also for families who have unexpected financial hardship. Approximately 5 minutes to complete.
  • Please note: tuition deadlines are automatically deferred upon our receipt of this form. Determinations will be made and you will be notified via email of the Board decision.
  • Work-Study Tuition Waiver

Please list skills and experiences in any of the areas below. Include yourself, your singer, or others in your family who might be contributing. You may skip a section if that category does not apply to you.

Samples of your work and further information about your experiences may be requested as your Work-Study Application is reviewed. Thank you for your willingness to share your talents with us!

Recipients will perform needed service as volunteers in the organization. Work-Study positions vary in terms of time and skills required. If offered a Work-Study position, you will have specified duties and responsibilities agreed to by mutual consent, outlined in a Work-Study contract.

Please note that the Work-Study Waiver Program is not intended to be a dollar-for-dollar exchange of billable hours of service provided by you against the cost of tuition. Rather, the Work-Study Waiver Program was instituted as a way of encouraging volunteerism to help facilitate the many needs of a new, fast-growing nonprofit organization. Like many nonprofit youth organizations, Cantus depends on the contributions of many, many people in order to be successful; we are glad to be able to offer our thanks in a way that creates a "win-win" situation.
  • Please describe any previous Work-Study experiences or other volunteer work you have done for Cantus.
  • Please describe your musical background, especially your ability to read and write music.
  • Please describe your background in office-related skills, such as bookkeeping, spreadsheets, writing letters or emails.
  • Please describe your experience organizing and managing projects and events.
  • Please describe your experience successfully promoting entities or events.
  • Please describe your experience with projects requiring physical labor (moving, building, cleaning, setup, etc.)
  • Please describe any other skills or experiences you have that could benefit Cantus.
