We rehearse on Cantuesday

All ensembles meet weekly on Tuesday nights. Each Cantuesday, hundreds of kids gather from Eagle, Boise, Meridian, Kuna, Middleton, and Star to make music together. Weekly rehearsals are an ideal combination of fun and hard work. Many of the ensembles meet concurrently, allowing for socializing during passing times.

1 semester + 1 semester = 1 season

1 season (or year) is comprised of two semesters. Semester one begins in September and goes through December, ending with our Winter Concert. Semester two starts in January and goes through April, culminating with our Finale Concert. Families can register for the full season or per semester (though tuition is lower for the full season). VoiceOver is the only ensemble that requires a full season commitment.

Please check CALENDAR for specifics.

Attendance Expectations

Singers are allowed 3 absences (20%) each semester, not counting illnesses.

These absences should be budgeted carefully to include concerts, tournament games, family travel, etc. Please budget wisely. Consistent attendance is critical to the success of the choirs. Singers are expected to be early to and attend all rehearsals. Please see the Cantus Handbook for further details.

MANY MEMBERS OF CANTUS HAVE COMPROMISED IMMUNE SYSTEMS. If a singer or family member has ANY illness symptoms, we ask that the singer stay home, so we don’t spread illness through the Cantus community. If the singer or a family member has an illness (common cold, flu, Covid, pertussis, pneumonia, strep, bronchitis, etc.) the singer needs to wait until all family members are symptom-free and clear it with the Cantus administration before returning to rehearsals. Singers can stay current with their learning and memorization from home using practice files.

Personal Practice

Because of the limited rehearsal time each week, singers in all of the Cantus Youth Choirs are expected to practice regularly outside of rehearsal. Rehearsals are dedicated to polishing music; therefore, it is crucial that singers learn their notes at home. There will be deadlines given for each singer to have their music memorized. We may provide practice recordings, but each singer will have access to copies of the sheet music that they may use for home practice.
