Winter Concert 2012 features two baritones: Rex Kocherhans and Tad Harris

Rex-Kocherhans

Rex Kocherhans’ international award-winning male quartet Reprise has sung with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the King’s Singers and produced three albums.  He performed in Europe, West Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East with the BYU Singers, including concerts at the Sydney Opera House and Carnegie Hall.

Mr. Kocherhans is passionate about building a thriving music culture in his home state of Utah, co-founding The Consortium Ensemble, a men’s a cappella group, and founding and acting as Artistic Director of the Deseret Chamber Singers, a chamber choir based in Salt Lake City.

He has performed leading roles in local opera, oratorio, and musical theater productions and has studied with Betty Jeane Chipman and Rebecca Wilberg.  Rex’s voice can be heard on numerous commercial recording projects.

Professionally, he works as a marketing manager in Salt Lake City.  He currently lives in Lehi, Utah, with his 4 favorite people: his talented and supportive wife Kate and 3 daughters.

Credits include performances as a featured soloist with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Salt Lake Choral Artists, and BYU Singers;  most recently, Rex was seen as Emile de Becque in South Pacific at the Hale Theater and Joseph in Savior of the World at the Conference Center Theater.

Tad-Harris

Tad Harris received his Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Brigham Young University, where he studied with Dr. Arden Hopkin and Clayne Robison. He also studied at Boston University with Phyllis Hoffman.

Mr. Harris has performed Sarastro and Papageno (The Magic Flute), Gugliemo (Cosi Fan Tutti), Count Almaviva (The Marriage of Figaro), and Don Basilio (The Barber of Seville). He has also been in The Merry Widow, La Traviata, Gianni Schicchi, and Don Giovanni. While in Boston, he performed with Bobby McFerrin and the Boston Pops Orchestra in Tanglewood.

At BYU, he founded the male ensemble Reprise, which went on to win an international collegiate competition in 2001. They were featured on the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s Music and the Spoken Word. In addition, they had the opportunity to open for the King Singers in Portland, Oregon.

Currently, he works in finance as a regional planning consultant for Fidelity Investments. He finds himself in Boise at least once a month for work, but resides in Lehi, Utah.

Mr. Harris is married to Kristen Harris and has four children: Mackenzie, Coby, Kate, and Cole—two girls and two boys (the perfect family, according to his wife). In his spare time he enjoys hanging out with his family, playing basketball, playing the piano, and singing with his new men’s ensemble The Consortium.
