Testing is how we get all singers on the same page so that we can have meaningful, musical experiences. They encourage the singers to practice at home and help us prepare for the concert. Singers must pass their testing to participate in the concert. Our goal is for kids to be successful! Please email if your singer will need extra time to complete the testing or would prefer to test by submitting a test online. We’re here to help them succeed.
Virtuoso (grade 7-9) testing
On Tuesday, November 7, Virtuoso is testing How Great Our Joy and Child of God. Concordia will join Virtuoso on November 14 and test O Holy Night.
Concordia (grade 10-12) testing
On Tuesday, November 14, Concordia is testing In the Bleak Midwinter and Do A Little Good. Concordia will join Virtuoso and test O Holy Night.
Concert Choir and Chorale do not have memorization testing.
How does testing work?
We always run the entire song through once as a group. If it is obvious that everyone is memorized, everyone instantly passes the test. If it’s clear that we need to run it more times, we place all of the singers in a large circle surrounding the room, have them all sing together, and walk in front of them and listen as they sing so that no singer is singled out or has to sing on their own.
What if I’m absent?
You will need to submit your part, memorized, for each tested song through the Practice Sessions section on our website by midnight of the Tuesday testing date.
