Memorization testing is a crucial step in our preparation for the concert. We have the entire choir stand in a large circle in the room and all singers stand together in their section and sing through the song from memory. Directors evaluate if singers have their part memorized.
If you are going to miss rehearsal on 11/12, please submit a PRACTICE SESSION VIDEO of you singing your part from memory by midnight of 11/12.
Concordia testing on November 12
Concordia will test O Holy Night; See, Amid the Winter Snow, and Angels We Have Heard On High on November 12 in rehearsal. All testing dates are posted to both the Practice Files page and our Calendar.
Virtuoso testing on November 12
Virtuoso will test O Holy Night and Angels We Have Heard On High on November 12 in rehearsal. All testing dates and assignments are posted to both the Practice Files page and our Calendar.
- How does testing work? We always run the entire song through once as a group. If it is obvious that everyone is memorized, everyone instantly passes the test. If it’s clear that we need to run it more times, we place all of the singers in a large circle surrounding the room, have them all sing together, and walk in front of them and listen as they sing so that no singer is singled out or has to sing on their own.
- What if I’m absent? You will need to submit your part, memorized, for each tested song through the Practice Sessions section on our website by midnight of the Tuesday testing date.
- What if I have extenuating circumstances? Please email Erika McCauley.
