Please read EVERYTHING on this page so you can be best prepared for the callback process. There are MANY important details that you will need to know if you want to do well at your callback audition.

WOW! Great job on your audition! We want to express our appreciation to everyone who sent in a video audition. We received over 100 auditions for 52 slots. We’re excited about working with you next season! We have spent many hours in discussions and auditions.

The first thing you need to know is that all of the directors have all tried out for hundreds of opportunities and haven’t been picked. This is the wonderful nature of music performance. It is an opportunity to practice one of life’s greatest lessons: just keep trying. If any of you have any questions on what you can do better next time, please feel free to talk to any one of us. Please be aware of how others might be feeling at this time. Your good sportsmanship and kindness is appreciated.

As Cantus continues its comeback from the pandemic (remember, there were over 360 singers in 2019, and last season had 186), every ensemble is going to become more competitive.

We’ve asked the following individuals to come to callbacks so we can hear them live. There are 2 callback sessions. Please scroll all the way down to see if you are in Session 1 or Session 2. There are singers who have not been invited to either session who may still be placed in contemporary ensembles. Please plan to be at callbacks for your entire call time. Singers will be sent home progressively throughout the evening.

Singers cannot be placed in a contemporary ensemble until they have joined for the full Season 13. Singers in a Cantus contemporary ensemble also commit to singing in a traditional ensemble, which rehearses from 7-8:15 pm. You must register before we can publish the final placement list.

You may be asked to sing another part (with others and within your range) at callbacks. Please print and bring your own copy of Get Here to the audition. Your ability to follow these instructions is part of your audition!
